Dog friendly bar area in a complex of restaurant seating areas. The whole place is immaculate from the entrance to the toilets. Staff are welcoming and observant, clearing tables at just the correct time, a big plus in my view. Food portions were very good, no waste and finishing the meals feeling just contented. Atmosphere rating based on early evening mid week timing but expect this restaurant will have a 5 star rating at other times of the day/week. Expect to be back soon.

The Balgarth Pines in Ayr didn’t disappoint! I tried the Bloody Mary prawn cocktail to start—the spice in the sauce really elevates a classic starter. For the main, I went with the poached salmon. It was incredibly tender and well-balanced, making for a perfect lighter dinner option. The staff were attentive and the setting in Doonfoot is just lovely. A solid 4 stars for a great local dining experience.
