Beautiful surroundings, set on a farm yard surrounded by fields. Lovely cafe with friendly, attentive staff. Brilliant quality food. Basic menu but a decent selection and the dishes themselves are full of quality, fresh produce. The cakes are amazing! Massive but absolutely delicious Quickly becoming our fave once a week lunch spot!
Fantastic meal! The steak & ale pie was packed with tender pieces of steak and full of rich flavour. The baked potato was perfectly cooked, fluffy inside and very tasty. A really hearty and satisfying dish. Highly recommended! Customer service excellent also will definitely be back.
Had a bad experience at Burns supper on Saturday night. We were asked to be there for 6.30pm but after a very long wait finally received our main course just before 9pm and although the plates were hot the food on them was not, some of us could not eat it. Complained to waitress in a nice manner and told her it wasn’t her fault, she said there is a back up in kitchen and more people were there than expected, so not true as you had to book a table to attend. Some people behind us. We’re not happy either, they did not get their main meal till 9.30. The people on other side of us had starters and mains finished before we were even served, what the hell was going on. Complained via waitresses who took the comments to the owners and she came back to us and said we could just pay £17.95 for our main meals and they would take off the cost of the few soft drinks we had. I might the owners and friends had their food an hour before us. No one came to speak to us and the group decided to leave and wait in the front shop till someone in charge came to speak to us. We now see that the owner has left a reply to say that we caused disruption to other guests, and left without settling our bill. This is so not true, some. Of us paid £17.95 at till very grudgingly, a few handed the owner £20 each, and a few paid £10 each as they had not had any food at all, and ONE PERSON left without paying, why is the owner telling this lie. At no point has he addressed the long wait for food being cold and inedible, would he wait in a restaurant 2/3 hours for his meal, I don’t think so. As for the entertainment, the female singer was good and we could hear her loud voice, but the rest of the speakers we could not hear or in some cases even see. The young girl 9/11 years old may have been good bu t again she was up on a table with her back to us, in front of the owners and their party and we could not hear what she was saying. Am very upset at the owners response. Stating that we did not get the concept of the night, they had no other complaints and we were rude to staff, all total lies. I am always ready to support local businesses and have been a customer of this establishment many times without complaint except for going in at 4.10pm one day to be told they had stopped serving food, I only wanted a soft drink and a scone, site said they didn’t close till 5pm. Feeling a. Tad dismissed and upset.
